The Alejandro Galvis Galvis Public Library in Barrancabermeja, a donation by the Barrancabermeja Cultural Corporation to the industrial university of Santander (UIS), is an academic and cultural space that offers a variety of services and activities for the community and university students. The library has areas dedicated to reading, bibliographical consultation both physical and online, an arts room and an audiovisual room.
Among the activities that can be carried out in the library are:
• Reading and consultation: This library has more than 13 thousand books that deal with multiple academic, social areas and even books for children.
• Workshops and courses: Educational and cultural activities for all ages such as: Youth course, recreational activities and conferences. Also, students really like to do their socials hours in such a calm place.
• Cultural events: Students or professional presentations, exhibitions of artistic activities made by students or relevant people. As a plus, recently between high schoolers one of the most wanted event each year is the "expo universidades". Where universities from multiple locations inside the country send students or representatives to tell them about all the programs they do offer.
• Reading promotion programs: This program seeks to encourage as many people as possible to participate and make reading a habit. For many years, there has been a saturday class for kids who enjoy reading or listen to others when doing it.
